Marbling

I have just spent two great days with Jo Fitsell at a WAC workshop on marbling.  What fun!

This is marbled over a not so special piece of painted silk.  Now it is SPECIAL!
These are some of the marbled fabrics laid out on my garage floor drying and curing.  There are a variety of techniques.  One layer of marbling, overlayer on pre printed fabric, and a stencil used as a resist.

These are marbled over a previous print, or marbled fabric.  So cool.
If you were in the workshop, and several of you were, bring your 5 or 6 favorite pieces for show and tell on Wednesday.  If we did all of the ones we made we would be all day showing and ohing and ahing and admiring.   REMEMBER CLASS STARTS AT 10 NOT 9

The Canadian Heart

I am excited because this is my first EVER Blog and I don't even understand how it works.

The word is interesting enough.  BLOG.  BLA.  "Bla, bla, bla"  or is it Blah, blah, blah"?

I am curious as to why Canadians living outside of the country can't enter the SAQA shows.  I find that fascinating.  I read Pam Allen's article on all of the problems she had going back and forth across the border and it made me feel so sad about the attitudes of sharing (gosh, isn't there a spell check on this thing - I am really in trouble).

I just finished having a show at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum and I am trying to have a presence in Ontario when I can.  I have loved the artists I have met.   My Canadian heart is broken.  Did I spend too much time in the U.S. ?  There's no place like home!
